Miami, Ub make statements on Day 1 of FIBA 3x3 World Tour Deqing 2026

DEQING (China) – Miami (USA) and Ub (SRB) made their intentions clear on Day 1 of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Deqing 2026, as both teams went unbeaten to secure their places in the Quarter-Finals. Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED) and Fuengirola (ESP) also swept their respective pools, while a dramatic finish saw Fuengirola edge Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) to complete a perfect day.

Miami Roll

Miami carried their recent momentum into Deqing, overcoming both Taipei WanBao (TPE) and Toulouse (FRA) in a pair of high-scoring games to finish 2-0 in Pool B. They needed to work for both wins.

Miami opened their campaign with a 21-18 victory over Taipei WanBao, with Riley Battin leading the way with nine points. Miami established an early 5-2 lead before Jimmer Fredette took over, helping his team build a 10-7 advantage. Taipei cut the deficit to 18-16 late, but Miami held firm to close out the win.

It was another tight battle against Toulouse. Toulouse controlled much of the early going, leading 9-8 seven minutes into the game and still holding a 14-13 edge midway through. Miami finally moved in front at 17-16, only for Toulouse to regain a 19-18 lead with the finish line approaching. Miami had the final answer, scoring the last three points to win 21-19 and complete the pool sweep. Battin again finished with nine points, while Miami now head into the Quarter-Finals against Antwerp (BEL).

Ub Set the Pace

Ub were equally impressive, although their two victories came in contrasting fashion. Strahinja Stojacic led Ub with seven points as they opened their campaign with a 22-17 win over hosts DeQing (CHN). The game was tied at 7-7 midway through before Ub began to pull away, building a 15-10 lead with under three minutes remaining. DeQing continued to fight, but Ub closed out the game 22-17.

Ub were even more convincing against Vienna (AUT). Nemanja Barać scored nine points as Ub took control early, turning a 4-4 start into a 12-5 lead midway through the contest. Vienna could not find a way back as Ub maintained a comfortable advantage before finishing off a 21-13 victory. The result sends Ub into the Quarter-Finals with a perfect 2-0 record, where they will face Toronto (CAN).

Fuengirola Survive Thriller

Fuengirola had to do it the hard way. After defeating Bochum SPARKASSE (GER) 21-11 in the Qualifying Draw, Fuengirola edged Utrecht (NED) 18-17 to earn their place in the Main Draw.

They then stunned Antwerp 14-11 before producing one of the day's most dramatic finishes against Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy. Ulaanbaatar led 10-5 midway through the game, but Fuengirola gradually fought their way back. The teams were tied at 15-15 with under three minutes remaining before Fuengirola moved ahead 18-17. The game was tied again at 19-19 late, but Isaac Mayo delivered the decisive basket to give Fuengirola a 20-19 victory and a perfect 2-0 record in Pool D.

Fuengirola advance to face Toulouse in the Quarter-Finals, while Antwerp also moved on after beating Ulaanbaatar earlier in the day.

Amsterdam Rally

Amsterdam RABOBANK also completed a perfect pool play campaign, but had to overcome an early deficit against Shibuya (JPN). Shibuya jumped out to a 4-1 lead and remained in control at 12-8 midway through the game. Worthy de Jong eventually sparked the comeback, tying the game at 15-15 with under two minutes remaining. Amsterdam finished the contest on a 5-2 run to claim a 20-17 victory.

De Jong then added seven points in a 16-14 win over Toronto, as Amsterdam held off a late challenge to finish 2-0 and advance to the Quarter-Finals. They will face Vienna, who bounced back from their loss to Ub by defeating DeQing 22-14 behind nine points from Toni Blazan.

Toronto Survive

Toronto kept their campaign alive with a dramatic 20-19 victory over Shibuya. The teams were tied at 15-15 with under three minutes remaining before Toronto edged ahead 19-18. Thibaut Vervoort led Toronto with 11 points as they held on for the one-point victory and secured second place in Pool C. That sets up a Quarter-Finals meeting with Ub.

Shootout Contest

The Shootout Contest also produced its four finalists on Day 1. Jonas Foerts of Antwerp, Susumu Miyasaka of Shibuya, Westher Molteni of Toronto and Toni Blazan of Vienna all advanced to the Shootout Contest Final, which will take place on Day 2.

Quarter-Finals Set

The Day 1 action has set up four intriguing Quarter-Finals matchups:

QF1: Ub (SRB) vs. Toronto (CAN)
QF2: Fuengirola (ESP) vs. Toulouse (FRA)
QF3: Miami (USA) vs. Antwerp (BEL)
QF4: Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED) vs. Vienna (AUT)

The Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final will take place on Sunday, September 27, with the next FIBA 3x3 World Tour stop winner set to be crowned in Deqing.
